How Having a Perfectionist Mindset can Increase your Daily Stress

Have you ever heard this: “I will be happy when …” – you are welcome to fill in the blank and complete the sentence in your own way. As an aerobic and callanetic instructor who has worked with different women for many years, I would complete the statement like this: “I will be happy when …I get the desired body shape through physical exercises and healthy living”.

When I started my own journey on the path of personal development and growth, the statement became: “I will be happy, when …I start manifesting and creating things in my life by observing The Law of Attraction”. And I continue to been work on this statement until now. Meanwhile, I had met different mentors and spiritual facilitators,  I completed many courses and trainings to finally find out that the answers to all my questions are within myself and I have to look for them on my own which could best facilitate my life journey and personal growth. So, I have made my own collection of useful techniques and tips which I am ready to share with you now and I guarantee that they are really very effective and will help you   live a happy and abundant life.

First of all, I had to transform my perfectionist mindset in order to live a harmonious and stress-free life by realizing that everything is perfect just as it is. In other words, I had to accept the things as they are, especially when they do not match my expectations, and to appreciate the present moment being grateful for everything at my disposal now in order to attract more and better of it in the future.

From all my clients which I had as a fitness coach and sport dance instructor I have learned that women typically act hardest on themselves when it comes to evaluating their body image and weight, especially when it concerns their progress in the weigh loss journey.

I say journey because, like everything in life, weight loss is also a journey or a path which you have to cover to find out your true perfect self.  So, it is really a process, in which you may experience many ups and downs to finally achieve a certain goal you have desired and planned before. In fact, sometimes it is easier to achieve the desired weight than to maintain it and make it your natural state.

Like so many things in life that you are chasing at and want them to  come true and real in your world,  at the time needed for their realization you feel you are” not happy enough” or “not good enough”.  It is your belief that without having them all now, or at least a few of them, life does not treat you well. Even when you make some small improvements in your reality and move ahead, you are not satisfied and grateful. To you, things still do not look the way you wanted them to be and you are still willing to raise your bar and set up a higher level.

When we do not appreciate enough the noticeable results we have attained in life because we want to go somehow bigger, then we start focusing on other “not so good” for us things instead of taking a break and preparing for our next steps. If our self-criticism is ruling our life journey, it triggers us to seek perfection in everything we plan and   did.

In my case, I have already achieved a certain level of perfection with my the physical body but still I was not content and then I was disappointed by  the stress and  exhaustion I felt as a result. When I started  to work on my  personal development and growth I began to realize that in order to be happy and live a stress-free life I had to  balance my energy system and harmonize my entire mind-body-spirit set.

I have tried to achieve this total harmonization for many years and completed not one or two trainings and courses, working with different mentors and facilitators to be able to finally create my own list of the best methods and practices to stay on track and manifest things in my reality.

The most important step for me was to implement the advice that one of my former mentors gave me as guidance toward my personal transformation. She told me:” Try to overcome that big strive for perfectionism which lies deep inside you and begin to “chase” at completing a certain task at 80% each time, because there is no such thing as complete perfection in the real life.”

Perfection is an ultimate goal or the highest ideal to be aligned with the Truth, so to be perfect means to do your best at every given moment in compliance with the high ideal, i.e. to complete a certain task in the best possible way and move ahead, to learn from your past experiences and go forward to be able to resolve your next life challenge that comes in your life.

Motion is a prerequisite for the evolution and progress, so do not allow the trifles in life to bother you and hinder you, but always try to see the bigger picture and the opportunities hidden beneath the surface.” My former mentor was an outstanding woman, she had survived from cancer and had developed her “inborn” talents of a healer. She has been teaching many people how to overcome the great life challenges and also has spread her own knowledge though many years of lectures and meditations which she does in service of the entire world.

Applying such a perspective to every problem or obstacle you encounter in life is very beneficial because by looking to complete a certain task by 80% each time you are appreciating where you “came from” and where you are “going to” reducing in this way the volume of your inner mental chatter and diminishing the voice of your inner self-critic who does the judgments and regrets you usually have to deal with on a daily basis.

Right now is the time for you to overcome your strive for perfectionism and try to complete at 80% each task you manage in order to go faster and easier to the next one on your daily duties list, because this is the way for you to go ahead at ease and grace; by implementing this you will be also able to have more free time for yourself and you will also provide the needed space for new powerful stuff to enter your environment and make you happy.

Try to use that rule for at least 21 days and be open-minded to see what subtle changes will occur in your world. Remember that after December 2012 we live in a new world and time goes faster than before so you can materialize things in your reality at a glimpse of an eye.

The more you implement this in your life, the shorter time will be needed to all new things to enter your world. And when  all these internal issues of yours are settled you will be capable of doing the real work of manifestation and creation using The Law of Attraction and the other Universal Laws properly in order to introduce a more enlightened, harmonious and joyful life  into your new world.
